During my time in India a couple of weeks ago, it was quite astonishing how many teachers I met who spoke from a very deep place of wisdom. The moment someone touches that inner core of knowing and begins to speak, the energy transmitted is truly unique and very powerful. Just by listening, you instinctively sense that truth is being spoken.
Not all such beings teach, though. I am still often deceived by followers or appearances. If I see someone talking on a stage in front of hundreds of people, I still have this old programming running that makes me trust that person more than someone I might meet while having lunch. That programming is so misleading, and I’m glad I’m leaving it behind, step by step.
This shift allowed me to recognize the wisdom of Janet. She runs a small restaurant at the hotel where I was staying and has no intention of teaching anyone, nor does she believe anyone needs to be taught. And exactly for that reason, she was—and still is—such a profound lesson for me: to understand that everything is already perfect as it is, that no one and nothing needs to be fixed. Meeting her inspired me to record this conversation and share it with you.
And yet, progress, change, and yes, the aspiration for change, are always part of this world and will always be. Shiva & Shakti, Yin & Yang, Being & Becoming—all of it is necessary and needs to be expressed to experience a world in balance. During this little interview, Janet and I beautifully represent both poles. Janet simply is. She embodies essential peace with what is happening right now. I, on the other hand, am impatient and trying to get somewhere (which makes me talk a lot more 🙈).
Unfortunately, the video was cut off after 15 minutes, even though our conversation continued much longer. But what was captured holds something rare: Janet’s calm presence, her deep groundedness in herself, and a peaceful clarity that radiates through every word she speaks. If you’ve ever longed to witness someone truly at ease in their being, this short glimpse may offer exactly that. Take a few minutes to watch—it might just stay with you.
